Roper Hospital, Bon Secours St Francis Hospital and RSF Mount Pleasant Hospital each received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get with the Guidelines – Stroke Quality Achievement Awards.
- Roper Hospital received the GOLD PLUS, TARGET: STROKE ELITE HONOR ROLL Quality Achievement Award. This means the hospital has demonstrated at least 85 percent compliance in each of the Get with the Guidelines – Stroke Achievement Measures for 24 consecutive months.
- Bon Secours St Francis Hospital received the GOLD PLUS, TARGET: STROKE HONOR ROLL Quality Achievement Award. This means the hospital had door to needle times within 60 minutes for at least 75 percent of applicable patients.
- RSF Mount Pleasant Hospital received the GOLD PLUS, TARGET: STROKE ELITE HONOR ROLL Quality Achievement Award. This means the hospital had door to needle times within 60 minutes for at least 85 percent of applicable patients
All three hospitals received recognition of TARGET: TYPE 2 DIABETES HONOR ROLL. This initiative aims to ensure patients with type 2 diabetes receive the most up-to-date, evidence-based care when hospitalized with Stroke.
This was the first year that RSFH hospitals were held to the Target: Stroke Phase III criteria, which are even more strict on achieving shorter door to needle times
The Target: Stroke Honor roll was an initiative developed to improve door to needle times for stroke patients being treated with IV thrombolytics. The shift from Phase I through Phase III has progressively raised the bar for participating hospitals, requiring more patients to receive IV thrombolytics within shorter target timeframes.
The awards are another validation of the high level of care provided for stroke patients. These three hospitals were also awarded Get with the Guidelines-Stroke Quality Achievement Awards in 2019, demonstrating our ongoing teamwork, commitment and dedication to care for patients who have suffered a stroke.
