RSFH hospitals recognized for patient experience

Three Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals received four-star ratings based on patient experience, according to results released July 31 by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid.

Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, Roper Hospital and Roper St. Francis Mount Pleasant Hospital each received four stars based on Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems scores collected between October 2018 and September 2019. Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital, which opened in October, does not yet have an overall or patient experience star rating.

Overall, 32 percent of hospitals nationwide received four stars, and just 8 percent received the highest possible rating of five stars.

These patient experience summary ratings are distinct from CMS’ overall quality star ratings, which were last updated in January and were unchanged in this latest release. Roper Hospital and RSF Mount Pleasant Hospital both earned five stars according to those ratings, and Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital received four stars.

CMS is not expected to release updated overall ratings until next year.
